Isola 2016 Fact Sheet

Isola Certifies Streamline Circuits’ Process

Isola Certifies Streamline to Produce Complex, High-Layer Count PCBs Using I-Speed® & I-Tera® MT

Streamline Circuits Successfully Fabricates High-End PCBs Using
I-Speed & I-Tera MT

CHANDLER, Ariz., March 14, 2013 — Isola Group S.a.r.l., a market leader in copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepreg materials used to fabricate advanced multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs), announced today that it has certified Streamline Circuits’ process to produce high-layer count PCBs using I-Speed® and I-Tera MT® laminates as pure and hybrid multilayer packages.

Isola worked closely with Streamline to produce a number of PCBs for major OEMs using both I-Speed and I-TeraMT. Both companies have reviewed the data generated and agreed that Isola’s materials satisfy their current requirements. In addition to providing an immediate solution to some designs that require lower-loss solutions, I-Speed and I-Tera MT are also thermally more robust and have a lower cost of ownership than other competitive products. I-Tera MT is especially beneficial here because it has a shorter lamination cycle and cures at a lower temperature.

I-Speed and I-Tera MT were recently commercialized after being validated by US, Canadian, Asian and European customers on a number of industry-standard design test vehicles. For instance, both products have been tested electrically using the top-three industry-standard signal integrity test vehicles (SI TVs). I-Speed and I-Tera MT have an insertion loss of 0.46 and 0.34 dB/in at 4 GHz respectively on the IPC TM-650 2.5.5.12 test vehicle.

I-Speed and I-Tera MT have also been tested on high-layer count backplanes and line cards for thermal robustness. Both have passed 15X reflows at 265°C “as received” and 10X reflows after humidity and temperature conditioning at 35°C, 85% RH and 336 hours (14 days) on designs that also have multiple internal 2 oz. planes with 1.0 and 0.8 mm pitch densities. Both products also include more spread-glass options (i.e. 1035, 1067, 1078 and 1086) in their prepreg and laminate offerings to improve CAF and mitigate micro-Dk effects in very high-speed digital applications. Both products will also be supplied with a very low-profile copper with 2 µm surface roughness (Rz) copper foil, otherwise known as VLP-2 copper.
