RoHS and WEEE

Directive 2011/65/EU recast the original RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive 2002/95/EC and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive 2002/96/EC.

This European Directive restricts the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment above prescribed thresholds.   In 2015, EU published Directive 2015/863/EU to include additional chemicals. Each of the following substances is restricted to less than 1000 ppm:

  • Lead (Pb)
  • Mercury (Hg)
  • Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)]
  • Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP)
  • Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
  • Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
  • Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)

Cadmium is restricted to 100 ppm.

Isola tests each of our prepreg and laminate products for the RoHS substances annually at an accredited third-party lab to confirm that our products are fully compliant.
